Ho ho ho! Santa made a special appearance at La Place de Gros Bois… On December 17th, under the bright Mauritian sunshine, the magic of Christmas warmed everyone’s hearts.

A Festive Afternoon for Kids and Grown-ups…

Picture this: 134 children, smiles brighter than the sunrays, and an afternoon buzzing with holiday cheer and vacation vibes. Kids from the Smart Village of Savannah and l’Escalier came together with one mission: to have an absolute blast!

Bouncy castle? Check. Christmas-themed face painting? Confirmed. Cool drinks and little treats? Perfect! The children lit up the place with their excitement.

The magic continued with a choir of Smart Village and l’Escalier residents singing Christmas carols, immersing everyone in the holiday spirit.

The highlight of the day? Santa’s arrival for a heartwarming moment of sharing that enchanted the children. Each child received a personalized gift, followed by a snack and drinks, courtesy of Savannah and Lo Yeung.

Spreading Joy Through Giving

For several years, Savannah residents have actively participated in this event by supporting children in need. The community Christmas of La Place de Gros Bois proves that a small gesture can bring a big smile.

This year’s initiative was organized in partnership with Les Amis de l’Escalier. Founded in May 2018 by the Martial and Albert-Thénet families, both residents of the Gros Bois neighborhood in Savannah, the association has been supported by generous monthly contributions from around 45 families.

Their work includes:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Supporting families in need with basic product baskets

👧 Providing a daily sandwich and yogurt to about 40 school children from l’Escalier

🏠 Helping families with construction work

📚 Supplying necessary school materials to children
